Dice, three per table. This resource Optional: projector
How to print the resource:
Works best if putting on cardstock, use one sheet both sides printing prompts on one side and adverb frequency scale on the other. This will be used as a group resource. Put this in the center of tables. Laminate them for durability.
How to present the resources:
Give students three dice. Tell them to roll only two of them first and t record the numbers. Them have them roll the third one, if it results in an even number, multiply the two numbers that as rolled in the first throw. If the number is odd, add.
Tell them to read the question to another student. Use this conversation to guide you of question 1:
L1: “How often do you go to the movies?”
L2: I rarely go to the movies. Maybe once or twice a year.
The student response should be in two parts:
1. A statement that uses the correct adverb of frequency to give the
answer,
2. An elaboration on the answer. Students should attempt to justify their use
of AOF. Use the PPT with more examples to further clarify to students. Student should only be scores on their correct use of AOF in the first sentence. The elaboration will only be scored to determine understanding.
