This resource was designed to get students diving into the history of the advertising industry, explore the driving factors that shaped decades of advertising history, and make comparisons between decades of advertising history and modern advertising. Unit project allows students a chance to display mastery by showcasing their design skills.
This Unit Bundle Includes:
-Advertising History Foundations PowerPoint (39 slides total)
-Teacher Instructions/Teaching Schedule
-Advertising History Comparisons Activity (showcased in preview)
-Advertising History Take Home Quiz (4 writing questions all which require detailed answers and evidence cited)
The bundle traces from the beginning of advertising all the way through the 1980s with special detail and focuses on the advertising culture shifts of the 1950s, 1960s, 1970s, and 1980s. (Please note this bundle does not extend beyond the 1990s because we touch on that in our digital marketing/internet unit in my classes. However, there is one research question on the take-home quiz that addresses the 1990s-modern advertising, so students are still exposed to that history.)
To aid in teaching this unit, I purchased the documentary series The Real Mad Men of Advertising. This entire bundle takes me 7-8 days to teach with 90 minutes in each class period when I am showing the “Real World of Mad Men” Documentary series.
**Please note, the “Real World of Man Men” four-part documentary series is NOT included with this product, and must be purchased separately!**
I highly recommend purchasing this series as it is very engaging for students and informative. I purchased mine from the following Amazon Digital Video Series link for only $10.99:
Teaching schedules for the unit are available in this bundle for teaching the unit with the documentary series and without the documentary series.
All resources in this bundle are editable so you can make them fit your particular classroom needs!
