As many new products were introduced in the 1920s a new industry emerged to help sell them. The Advertising industry as we know it was born and there were new products that people had never heard of before. People needed convincing they needed these items. The idea behind this lesson is to assign students products that are not entirely useful in society today but to have them create advertisements to convince their classmates they are necessary to buy! Groups can present their advertisements and have fun trying to put themselves in the shoes of advertisers from the 1920s as they tried to sell a lot of new products people had never heard of before. There is a funny slogan creator to use for each item at the end for some laughs.
Directions are included. Students will spend one day working and creating and a second day presenting and discussing.
