These cards are great for children with autism, learning difficulties or speech delay. They can be used to help teach numbers, as well as encouraging communication through coordination and social interaction.
This is a really good game for teaching numbers and counting that I have designed myself. I work with autistic children and find that visual aids such as this one really help them to learn. The idea of the game is simple... just put the right number of planes on the cards in the spaces provided (Adult should count down with the child as the planes are taken off... and count up as they are put back on again). The cards get longer as the numbers increase to emphasize that the number of planes is increasing. This is a very visual game designed to be quite simple in order to save confusion for the child when learning difficult number concepts. Ideally, these cards would be printed, before laminating and then velcro would be attached to the cards and pieces.

All of my items are learning aids that I have created myself based on autistic children being visual learners. Most children learn and practice skills through play, but a child with autism will need practice and prompting to do so. All of the games that I design are meant for the child to use with the help of an adult. There are lots of wonderful resources to help children develop but children with autism can find the colors and quantity of objects too overwhelming and many do not know what to do with it all, for this reason the games are kept simple and information is presented clearly and visually.
