This has proven for me to be a fun, educational method to engage my students -- future college-goers! -- to not only read one of Aesop's lesser known fables for pleasure and higher-level reading analysis, but to do the following:
a.) analyze a fable's lesson (theme)
b.) effectively prepare for ACT-style questions
c.) align with CCSS's anchor standards in ELA -- reading/language
d.) apply comprehension of formal/standard grammar/conventions
