Using an online resource for Aesop’s fables, students read four different fables. For each fable, students have an activity to complete. Students are able to choose from a list of fables, giving them some control over their reading.
For the first fable, students write about a time in their own lives when a similar event has occurred, then compare that time to the story in the fable.
After reading the second fable, students rewrite the fable with different characters but the same moral.
Students illustrate the third fable they read, after researching the characters.
After reading the fourth fable, students create a slide show or Prezi, retelling the fable and explaining the moral of the story.
A grading rubric is included.
