In this 5 part mini-unit, students will read two of Aesop's fables to answer, "What lessons can we learn through stories about animals?" At the end of the unit, students will be able to write a paragraph to explain what lesson was taught in "Tortoise in the Hare."

Lesson 1: Notice and wonder for both stories "Ants and the Grasshopper" and "Tortoise and the Hare"

Lesson 2: Retell both stories using a story map.

Lesson 3: Main Character Actions and what the actions reveal

Lesson 4: Central Message

Lesson 5: Complete Central Message Paragraph to answer focusing question
