Aestheometry means the beauty of geometry. A conspicuous element is the creation of an implied curve through the use of only straight lines. You may have seen a form of aestheometry in what is typically known as string art. This project creates the same type of design using colored pencil or felt pen. Metallic colored pencils show up great on black paper.
This project set will guide your students toward the mastery of this process. My students spend around three weeks practicing and creating a couple of these designs. But one could adapt a much quicker completion time if desired.
This is a project that looks complex but it will surprise you how simple it actually is. You don't need to be a math or art teacher to present this lesson. Students catch on quickly and begin to add their own creative spin on their designs. But it takes some on-task time and that is what this package provides. 44 pages of informative handouts, worksheets, and examples. Cross-curricular with math and geometry. PDF format.
