This is a creative role-playing simulation somewhat similar to the game "Telephone" where students learn about oral history and African Griots. Students are put into "clans" and are then given a specific role to fill. They then analyze African proverbs and follow the rules of the simulation. This also serves as a great activity to illustrate the possible consequences of having a tradition of oral history. Directions/student handouts, list of proverbs, and student "ticket out the door" questions are included.
