Product Description
You’ll begin by modeling some fun stories from your life for your students. It will be a good opportunity to communicate some information for your students to get to know you better. Students will then brainstorm their own stories in groups before putting together an oral history in the tradition of African griots. The story will either be delivered live without any notes or recorded with technology, whichever direction you would like to go.

This lesson brings students into an ancient African tradition that continues to this day in many areas. They will build on their study of African griots by telling the story of an event, tradition or aspect of their family. You can choose to deliver this lesson in one of two ways. The more authentic version will not only not require students to write anything down, it will prevent them from doing so. The updated version will incorporate a storyboard and technology. Both can incorporate peer feedback after or as part of the lesson.
