This is a web based research project designed for students to research a person of their choice for Black History Month (or whenever!). There are websites, an outlined note form for the students, 3 choices for a written summary page, and a rubric for grading.
Students will love this project and it gets them on the computers (which is always a bonus to integrate technology!) and they can work at their own pace to complete their research. When they share their biography, you could set up their seats in a circle, provide a little snack and drink of some kind, and have a sharing session. The kids can ask each other questions about their person and they feel like a little expert about their project! It is a great experience and the final project is very rewarding. It also makes the oral report less "scary" for them. One option for grading is using a 1 2 3 4 rubric on the summary.
