These reading passages feature African-Americans in STEM. These 2 passages are designed for middle school and are perfect for warm-ups, mini-assessments, small groups, reading centers, and homework. The passages are between 150 – 300 words. They include 2 multiple choice questions and 2 short answer questions. Students should be able to complete the passage and questions within 10 minutes. There are also compare and contrast and timeline sheets. Answer keys are included.

James Andrew Harris: Credited with the co-discovery of elements 104 and 105 on the Periodic Table of Elements.
