African Penguin Habitat STEM Challenge
*This challenge is also part of my Bird Bundle!*

This STEM lesson is designed to get students thinking about animals from one of the seven continents, Africa and their habitat. This easy STEM activity asks students to work cooperatively with a team or work on their own, to design and test a man made home for a African Penguin. I have designed this lesson to pair with my South Africa Travel Book, which can be found in my TpT store.

This download includes:
1. Two STEM lesson recording sheets for students
- One for group work
- One for individuals
2. Teacher Resource Page
- Pictures of African Penguins from my travels
- Links to YouTube videos and books to use in the classroom for this topic
3. Two versions of a Cost Sheet
- This add on feature allows students to practice money skills by associating a cost to each material used (using play money)
- Students can then budget out how to use their money to buy supplies for building

This lesson also pairs great with either lessons on habitats or seven continent study, specifically of Africa. I recommend reviewing information about African Penguins and Boulders Beach before starting the lesson to give students some background knowledge and activate creative thinking.

With references to Boulders Beach, I also recommend you pair this activity with either my small book on South Africa or your own resources on the country.
