When I say "Africa" what comes to mind?
This is the guiding question I use to discover the poetry of African writers. Discovering the world through literature can be exciting and fun but sometimes we need to use this poetry to discover that preconceived notions can be completely different than the actuality. One of the most amazing parts of being a teacher is watching my students gain a better, more realistic, idea of the world around them.
