This is a unit from my larger Endangered Species Bundle. If you are looking to purchase more than one unit, I would suggest looking at the overall bundle for the biggest savings!

Check out my Endangered animals bundle here:
Endangered Species Resource Pack

This unit is all about Africa's wild dog. This resource is a great way to encourage science, vocabulary, fluency, research, informational text, non-fiction, and oral presentations in one package.

I like being able to engage my students in these research projects during our ELA block. I can expose them to challenging vocabulary, begin research projects and encourage their writing, while also introducing them to simplistic oral presentations.

YES, I USE this unit in my classroom. I use the entire bundle and cover endangered animals at one time while each student works on one animal to research and share with the class. The final projects look ah-maze-ing hanging out in the hallway on display! I print off each animal's color poster, laminate, and hang it above their writing...I get compliments every year.

Included in this resource:
* pocket chart vocabulary cards (just print on cardstock and you will be set!)
* color poster
* profile card (a quick breakdown of facts)
* bio card (a lengthy profile with sentences and bold faced vocabulary cards)
* 2 anchor charts with color photos (digging deeper and save the species)
* KWL chart with a color photo
* Decodable book with color photos (each book is 4 pages long and only a half sheet to save on printing!)
* Text based evidence (A question that sends kids back into the text to search for evidence)
* A flipbook (A great way to display their knowledge of each animal)
* Word search (a fun way to end each animal. Answer key included.)
* Quiz (Perfect if you need a quick assessment grade. Answer key included. The quiz is only 4 questions.)

Also included in this resource are interactive notebook pages, 3 differentiated book reports and rubrics for each level. Included is an oral presentation aspect but doesn't have to be used depending on the grade level. I included a mini lesson on what endangered animals mean and the different levels. There are pocket chart vocabulary cards, color posters with a photograph of each level and a decodable book on an overview of endangered animals.

Please look at the preview to get a better idea of what is included. If you enjoy this unit, the bundle has the same format for EACH of the 25 animals that are included.
