This (Afro)Latinos Influyentes Unit is an EDITABLE Google Download. With this unit students will learn about 6 influential latinos (Celia Cruz, Pelé, Sonia Sotomayor, Roberto Clemente, Ilia Calderón and Dámaso Pérez Prado). We have a mixture of musicians, athletes, and news/politics. 5 of the 6 figures are also Afro-Latino, making this a good unit for both Hispanic Heritage Month and Black History Month.
The unit is based around a 2 page reading written in the present and past (see PREVIEW to see if it is right for your students. Whether you teach traditional L2 learners or heritage students that are able to move faster, this is over a solid week of material on a block schedule (so 2 weeks AT LEAST of 45 min. classes).
