Whether you are looking to introduce mystery, suspense, and tension into the classroom or you are an Agatha Christie enthusiastic like me, this unit has it all. Dame Agatha Christie's beloved sleuth, Miss Jane Marple, is the perfect main character to use with students of all ages. All of her short stories are brisk and to the point. Furthermore, a great deal of the short tales have been remade into TV movies. These quick contrasting viewpoints will allow the students to explore author motivations, as well as think critically about the similarities and differences in the works. Included in this resource, you will find study guides and graphic organizers that will aid in the reading of The Complete Short Stories of Miss Marple, as well as various viewing guides that will assist in the inclusion of the TV movies in your curriculum.
This resource would pair very nicely with other Agatha Christie-related items that are available in my store including Murder on the Orient Express, And Then There Were None, and "The Mousetrap".
1. I do not own the copyright to any of these stories or the videos; therefore, I have not included any of those items in this resource. You will only find guides within this product.
2. I have been able to find many of the stories through online outlets, but I created this document using Miss Marple: The Complete Short Stories, a paperback edition published by William Morrow, an Imprint of HarperCollins Publishers, in 2011.
3. For the video guides, I created those items using the Marple TV series. I was able to watch all of the episodes using my HULU account, but almost all public libraries carry copies of this treasured series. I have even found a few of the episodes on YouTube. For instance, if you would like to use the Towards Zero guide with your students you can find a mediocre showing of it by following this link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8W5SVc4qyKg
