The premise is that a group of historical figures are riding in a hot air balloon and all but one must be thrown out before the hot air balloon crashes. Students are assigned one Google Slide to complete about a historical figure, in this case, an important person during the Age of Discovery. Students then have to make persuasive speeches, ask and answer questions, and conduct research in order to convince their classmates to save their historical figure and vote for the other historical figures to be thrown overboard before the fictional hot air balloon crashes. Based off the strategy presented in A History Teaching Toolbox: Practical Classroom Strategies by Russel Tarr. Hope you enjoy.
