Designed for a standards and skills-based, interactive World History classroom, this unit includes content on the motives and influences on the beginning of European Exploration (Crusades, Monarchs, Competition, etc), the Significant Explorers of the period, the Columbian Exchange, and so much more.
Activities include pairs and small group activities (Sunken Ship Activity), internet research (Famous Explorers Newscasts), and a centers activity for content collection and previous lesson review (Columbian Exchange Activity). Also includes a lesson on verifying internet information in research.
Lessons can also be adapted for use with textbooks if internet is not available for research on explorers. All other content is provided for use in this lesson as well as a complete unit plan, student handouts, and all centers materials.
Review materials (Age of Exploration Illustrated Timeline and Study Guide) are also included to guide students through activities and to review content. Teacher notes and printing directions are provided with activities.
