This Explorers Powerpoint is colorful, engaging and interactive. Students will learn about 10 European explorers spanning from the 1270's to 1500's; including Polo, Dias, da Gama, Columbus, Cabot, Cabral, Vespucci, Ponce de Leon, Balboa and Magellan. The presentation includes a brief biography about each of the above explorers and separate slides for their major accomplishments and discoveries with colorful pictures to keep students engaged.
Students will be able to visualize the timeline of the discoveries these explorers made and how they changed the world. Included at the end of the presentation is a 10 slide MATCHING ASSESSMENT WITH ANSWER KEY that can be used whole group or printed and given individually. Students will match the European explorers names to their given accomplishment or discovery.
This Powerpoint and assessment is a GREAT way to help meet your social studies standards and could be used from 5th grade up through middle school. Could be used for one lesson or over the course of a week/month depending on the age level of your students and depending how in depth you want to get on each explorer.
