This is a review game that is played in groups of 2 - 5 students. This is a fun way for students to review collaboratively and incorporates the use of technology with QR Codes.
Instructions for the game:
The game can be played with 2 – 5 players.
There are 30 vocabulary cards and 4 crab cards in a set.
Mix the vocabulary cards and crab cards together. Place all cards in a cup, bowl, bucket, etc (I use old coffee cans, yum!). This will be the drawing stack.
Students take turns drawing a card from the drawing stack.
Once, a student draws a card. The student must be able to define or explain the word to the other players. If they can successfully, the player keeps the card and receives a point. If they are unable to explain the card, then the card is returned back to the drawing deck.
The QR Code on the card is used by the other players to check for accuracy.
Then the next player goes. If an “Ahh Crab!” card is drawn then that player must return all of his/her vocabulary cards back to the drawing deck and he/she loses all of his/her points. The “Ahh Crab” card is NOT returned to the drawing deck.
The game continues until all the cards have been drawn, and the student with the most vocabulary cards at the end is the winner.
