PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

This lesson teaches students about two types of symbiotic relationships: mutualism and commensalism. A powerpoint presentation gives students multiple examples of each type of relationship. Each example includes pictures. In most cases, I have included links to online videos. Because schools often block Youtube, I have included appropriate, short, and relevant videos both on and off Youtube for each example. If Youtube is blocked in your school, some of the other links may be blocked as well. Double check before you show your class.

Once the powerpoint is finished, students are asked to decide whether additional examples represent mutualism or commensalism, and to explain their reasoning. Finally, students read a short article about symbiogenesis- Lynn Margulis’s idea that symbiotic relationships can lead to speciation and evolutionary change. Students may have to finish the article and questions for homework.

Zip file contains: 1.Powerpoint 2.PDF, to guarantee formatting and for easy printing, 3.Word document, to make it easier to edit.

Document is a conglomeration of my original material and material from other sources. Price reflects this. I have made a good faith effort to include all non-original material in the free preview download.
