Great for a break from more romantic aspects of Valentine's Day or informational research and reading. Students will research questions about Al Capone and the St. Valentine’s Day Massacre. Students will learn a brief overview of Al Capone and the St. Valentine’s Day Massacre. They will follow up with some reflection on the enduring legacy of Al Capone. There are two versions of the project: one with specific questions and slide instructions, and one with more general instructions.
File is a Single PDF.
Version 1: This is a very structured scavenger hunt using a single website. For my students it helped keep them on task and on reputable information about Al Capone. The image search allowed them more freedom (for better and for worse.) Answer key included.
Version 2: This is a more general version. There are guided questions (the minimum information to include) but students will need to find the answers on one or more reliable websites, plus find images, cite their work and create a presentation. Rubric included.
Both scavenger hunts concluded with analysis questions about the enduring legacy of Al Capone.
Students will need access to the internet, plus use of PowerPoint or other presentation software.
