In this lesson, students will work in small groups and examine a letter describing the environment in Alabama and examine reasons which might have encouraged settlers to move to Alabama in the early nineteenth century. Students will pretend they are an early nineteenth century settler thinking about moving to Alabama and they will create a Voki encouraging their friends to move to Alabama as well, using details about Alabama's environment from the letter and/or other research.
