This worksheet allows students to use a primary source document (Victory or Death Letter by William Barret Travis) to learn about the Battle of the Alamo and the Texas Revolution.
The primary source document is written by William Barret Travis and he is asking for people to come help aid his soldiers at the Alamo. This letter written by William Barret Travis is full of passion and is a great way to get students interested in the Texas Revolution and the Alamo. The letter is typically called the “Victory or Death Letter”.
Students read the document and answer the questions on the worksheet. The worksheet includes 10 questions and has an answer sheet for the teacher. The worksheet can be used to generate classroom discussion or be used as homework. Feel free to modify this assignment as needed for your classes. My students always enjoy reading this primary source and it makes them more interested in the Texas Revolution.
