Students read excerpts from Ben Franklin's Albany Plan of Union, answer 11 questions, and complete 2 creative tasks. The answers are included where appropriate and the historical spelling and grammar has been preserved for authenticity. This would be great for a sub!
Sample questions include:
--What purpose would the Grand Council serve?
--Inferring from prior knowledge, why was there a need to “handle” Native American affairs?
--How would the Union approach taxes? Do you think it was a good idea, why or why not?
--If the plan were to be enacted, do you think the Union would be able to stand up for a colony choosing to separate, why or why not?
--Write a 3-5 sentence statement King George might have sent to the colonies when he heard about this proposal. How do you think he felt when the plan fell through, and why?
