Description
Give your students a chance to search the internet by searching for Alberta facts in this quick research project disguised as a challenge. It's perfect for those days when you need something quick and don't have time to plan.
This product includes:
- instructions on how to do the task
- student pages
- answer keys
This activity was designed for our students to gain confidence using search terms when doing research on the internet. It could be done with books instead, though it was designed to have students look for the information online by refining their key words or search terms to locate the correct information. It will also have your students looking through web pages to verify information by reading charts and tables.
It has been classroom tested with students in grade four and five and many students loved the challenge which took most students about two hours to complete.
You could have students use this task independently or as a station during your guided reading. We used it as last minute plans when a supply teacher needed to take over.
This activity was designed for Canadian students, but it can be used in any country to learn more about Alberta. It contains Canadian spellings.
