Call it aleph bet, alef bet, or aleph beis - Students learn rapidly with this activity. It's engaging, effective, and fun!!
This is a fantastic set of file folder games which you can put in a center or leave loose and pass out to small groups of students! Each game board is cute, colorful, and inviting. The theme is spring.
You get a set of three mats with cute clouds that each have a Hebrew letter typed on it. The goals is for students to match the white cloud card to the blue cloud with the same Hebrew letter on it. Since the mats are comprised of the entire alef bet, this file folder game works best as a review, not for introducing the alef bet.
You get a much larger set. There are two game boards (of a snail's trail) for each of the Hebrew vowels/nikkud. So, there are two game boards for kamatz, two for patach, 2 for tseirei etc... Students must move along the snail trail, reading aloud the letter and vowel on each space they land. The winner is the first player who makes it to the mushrooms at the finish. This set of games is suited for practicing Hebrew reading of each nikkud as it is introduced, only one vowel/nikkud on each game board for this reason.
Provide students with the your own game pieces (use beans, coins, or counters) plus the spinner in the file (which requires a paper clip and pencil or brad to work).
