Alexander Graham Bell, His Life and Times is designed as a multi-purpose informational reading and writing unit for upper elementary students. In total there are two and a half pages of illustrated text and six student work pages as well as a full answer key.
Each of the two texts (the first is one page in length and the second is two) can be used alone (but in sequence): they could be assigned as the teacher wishes: in class over a couple of days or more, as homework, as independent projects, etc.
The two texts are chronological:
Part 1 is titled “Young Alexander Graham Bell” and
Part 2 “Alexander Graham Bell, Inventor”.
Each text has a page of questions (inference, factual, and opinion) as well as a page of vocabulary and language use work and a short creative writing assignment.
-- a one-page cloze activity using the twelve vocabulary words from Parts 1 and 2 (introduced in the work sheet for each part) and -- a short quiz that consists of six multiple-choice questions and one short answer question.
A full answer key is included.
The last page of text comes in two versions, one for American students and one for Canadian students.
