Product Description
This is a PowerPoint lesson written for my Algebra 1 classes. It was created to correspond with Section 7.5 in the Prentice Hall California Algebra 1 textbook. The lesson explains the division property of exponents -- when dividing like bases, subtract the exponents.

There is a video in the lesson to help explain. That makes this the perfect lesson when you have a substitute in class, or if you are home schooling, or so you can take roll while the lesson continues.

It addresses part of CA Standard for Alg 1 2.0:
Students understand and use such operations as taking the opposite, finding the reciprocal, taking a root and raising to a fractional power. They understand and use the rules of exponents

Common Core Standard:
Expressions and Equations 8.EE
Work with radicals and integer exponents.
A.EE.1 Know and apply the properties of integer exponents to generate equivalent numerical expressions. For example, 3^2 × 3^(–5) = 3^(–3) = 1/(3^3) = 1/27.

NOTE: Math Type 5.0 and/or Math Type 3.0 were used to create the slides.
