Playing a game of Tic Tac Toe is a great way to review topics! Students work together in pairs to complete 16 questions.
This one reviews Solving Quadratic Equations. The problems vary in degree of difficulty, with many of them needing the quadratic formula or completing the square to solve. I have one that only involves factoring at: Solving Quadratic Equations Tic Tac Toe (easy)
Students like this type of review because they can get help from their partner, but are still in a competition to win the game.
Common Core Standards:
A-REI 4. Solve quadratic equations in one variable.
a. Use the method of completing the square to transform any quadratic equation in x into an equation of the form (x – p)2 = q that has the same solutions. Derive the quadratic formula from this form.
b. Solve quadratic equations by inspection (e.g., for x2 = 49), taking square roots, completing the square, the quadratic formula, and factoring, as appropriate to the initial form of the equation.
