Product Description

This relay can be used to review solving quadratic equations with Algebra 1 classes. It includes solving by taking square roots, solving by factoring, solving by using the quadratic formula, and solving by competing the square. This one has all rational answers. I have two others -- one for Algebra 1 that has both rational and irrational answers, and another for Algebra 2 that has rational, irrational, and complex answers.

An answer sheet and instructions are included.

I use relays to review for lots of subjects. The students think that they are playing a game and try hard to get the correct answers so that their team can "win".

*Common Core Standards:*

A-REI 4. Solve quadratic equations in one variable.

A-REI 4b. Solve quadratic equations by inspection (e.g., for x2 = 49), taking square roots, completing the square, the quadratic formula, and factoring, as appropriate to the initial form of the equation. Recognize when the quadratic formula gives complex solutions and write them as a ± bi for real numbers a and b.

Previous CA Algebra 1 Standards:

14.0 Students solve a quadratic equation by factoring or completing the square.

20.0 Students use the quadratic formula to find the roots of a second-degree polynomial and to solve quadratic equations.

An answer sheet and instructions are included.
