Product Description

This is the second Powerpoint lesson I use to teach my students to Write the Equations of Lines. I have divided the topic into four lessons:

1. Writing Equations of Lines: Day 1 This lesson shows how to write the equation given the slope and the y-intercept, and how to write the equation given a graph. It also shows the slope-intercept form and standard form of the equation.

2. Writing Equations of Lines: Day 2 which shows how to write the equation given the slope and a point contained in the line, and how to write the equation given two points on the line.

3. Writing Equations of Lines that are Parallel or Perpendicular to a given line.

4. A review of writing the equations and graphing the lines with the information given.

7.0 Students verify that a point lies on a line, given an equation of the line. Students are able to derive linear equations by using the point-slope formula.

8.0 Students understand the concepts of parallel lines and perpendicular lines and how those slopes are related. Students are able to find the equation of a line perpendicular to a given line that passes through a given point.
