Students work with a partner to match cards that represent the same math idea under the headings: situation, equation, graphs, and questions. This cooperative learning activity promotes team building and communication. Students explain their thinking and justify answers as they work on problem solving. They will create equations with two-variables, graph linear equations, determine possible points for a linear equation. Students will create systems of equations, graph systems of equations, and justify solutions. The hands on learning activity is followed up with an individual assessment to further inform the teacher concerning the student's learning. A recording sheet is included to provide feedback on mastery for the class.
