Product Description
Objective: Solving inequalities in one variable

1- a set of 24 Task Cards with QR Codes
2- a set of 24 Task Cards without QR Codes

Teacher will need to print and cut out the set of task cards, it is recommended to print using card stock. Laminating the cards is a must so they can be used again and again. A student work sheet is enclosed to make it easier for the teacher to keep track of students work.

There are different ways you can run this activity with the task cards. In my classroom my students like to play the Musical Math Game, see instructions below.

Task Cards with QR Codes : Are you having BYOD days yet?
In this day and age, when it seems impossible to get our students to put away their cell phones/ipods/mobile devices, it seems easier to allow the students use their devices by holding Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) days and put their devices to work.

With this in mind, I have included a set of task cards that include QR Codes; which means students can check their answers by scanning the QR code on the card with a mobile device. As long as the QR scanner is on the device, it does not require an internet connection.

Optional Musical Math Game Rules

Musical Math is a game that my students love to play because it reminds them of a time when they were younger and they would play musical chairs at a birthday party.. The game works out so that the class is divided into 5 or 6 stations with 3 or 4 students working as a cooperative learning group.

Place 2-4 task cards at each table for the students to work on while at that station. It is always a good idea to label the stations. The number of task cards will depend on the level of difficulty and time that you have in that period. Students sit with their group while the music is playing and during this time they solve the problems on the task cards. When the music stops, after 2-3 minutes, they move to the next table where they will find the next set of 2-4 task cards in a clockwise rotation and begin solving the new set of task cards. Students are expected to solve the problems on the worksheets provided.
