Algebra 1 Unit 2 - Solving Equations
Are you new to teaching, teaching Algebra 1 for first time, or just have too many preps? Let me help! This unit includes everything you need for a three week unit on equations in your Algebra 1 class.
This unit includes topics such as properties, solving two-step and multi-step equations, proportions, word problems in one variable, and literal equations. Each day new material is presented there is a warm-up, practice problems, and a homework assignment. To summarize the material, two graphic organizers are provided - one for the properties and another for the steps to solving equations. On the follow-up days, activities are provided to reinforce the skills. The activities are partner problems (where students have a set of problems that have answers that match a partner's), equation bingo, and hands on literal equation activity. There is also a quiz in the middle of the unit to assess understanding before moving on.
For review, there is a study guide and Jeopardy style review game which is provided in PowerPoint. Finally, there is a 25 question test in free response and multiple choice format. After the test, you have to keep students busy so there is a word search provided for extra credit.
If it has been awhile since you have done algebra, problems are worked out step by step and have answers. Majority of the files are provided in both a pdf and word formats and can be edited to suit your preference.
The topics covered and agenda for each day is included in the preview. Please let me know if you have any questions. Have an Amazing Algebra Year!
