Welcome Back to Algebra 2 Scavenger Hunt: This is the perfect ice breaker and pre-assessment!
The objective of this activity is for students to review concepts they previously learned and also serves as an ice breaker for the beginning of the year. It's a great way to kick off the year and sets the tone for a year full of student discourse! *Answer key included*
Teacher tip: this activity can be used as a pre-assessment. I have my students circle the problems/stations they struggled the most with. This provides me with information regarding their strengths and weaknesses for each class and student.
Concepts included: solving equations and inequalities, solving 2 story problems, graphing a quadratic equation, fractions, one system of linear equations, simplifying a radical without a calc, and simplifying expressions using PEMDAS and like terms.
Print each of the following pages on colored paper and hang around the room (my students also love it when I placed some of pages in the hallway). This will give you 12 stations (12 problems). Give each student the Scavenger Hunt Worksheet. In partners or small groups, the students will first pick a station to begin with (they can begin anywhere). They must solve the problem from that station in the designated box (they may need scratch paper for the two graphs). The students will then use that answer to determine which station to head to next (answers are in the upper left-hand corner of each station).
Have a great year!!!
