Synthetic Division Engaging Game. This can also be used for long division in Algebra 1. Appropriate for Algebra 2, PreCalculus, College Algebra
Super fun way to engage students in practice and review of synthetic division. Students of all ages still love playing dots and boxes or as it is known now as Box Wars.
This is the game where two or more kids take turns drawing lines to close or capture a box. In this Algebraic version, each box has a polynomial division problem in it. There are twenty problems. When a student captures the box, he/she must find quotient using synthetic division. The value of the remainder is the number of points they earn; positive, negative or zero. Each student records the values on their recording sheet and when all the boxed are captured, players add their points to see who wins. Lots of strategies built in, as some values are negative.
Great practice and lots of fun! Answer key and directions included.
