UNIT LEARNING GOALS:
Every year it seems that more accountability is placed upon teachers around the world. This past year, I developed a set of learning objectives for my students to use in their Interactive Student Notebooks. We made a small pocket, at the beginning of every unit, in which to store a personal learning goal sheet to document and track individual mastery. I copied each unit on it’s own color-coded paper that matched the color of the foldable for the unit.
HOW I USE THE N-B-A SCALE:
You will notice on each unit’s learning goal that a column is provided for mastery. At the end of a lesson or unit, students use this document in preparation for their final assessment. I explain the scale in this fashion:
N - Student needs more practice, and are not proficient in the stated objective. (NOT YET)
B - Student understands the general objective and are better or “B” rated. They can manage most of the questions in the concept but have not totally mastered the skill or concept. (BETTER)
A - Student is able to teach the concept to others. (AWESOME)
