Sprint 2 is an additional exercise to Sprint 1, as both deal with basic integer operations. In this sprint, the numbers used are slightly more difficult.
This is a great activity if you think your students need some quick review but don't have time for a full lesson.
I will be having my students complete Sprint 1 and 2 a few days apart from each other. Please note that my sprints do not contain as many patterns as seen in those for earlier grades.
Directions for a Sprint: Give students exactly one minute to complete the exercises on one side of the handout. The goal is fluency so students should complete as many as possible and the goal is therefore not to finish the entire sheet. If "Jane" gets the first 20 questions right, but #21 is wrong, she receives a 20/32. This score is just for personal assessment. Provide students with all answers and then turn the page. When the backside is completed, "Jane" should aim to get more than 20 correct without a mistake. The goal is again, enhanced fluency rather than completion.
