These are the booklet/worksheets that I use to form the basis for my each of my lessons for the algebraic equations unit.
Unit: Equations & Inequalities
Lesson 1a: Solving one-step equations
Lesson 1b: Solving Equations & Checking for Mistakes
Lesson 2a: Solving Multi-Step Equations
Lesson 2b: Converting Real World Situations
Lesson 2c: Combining Like Terms to Solve Equations
Lesson 2d: Divide or Distribute?
Lesson 3a: Comparing and Representing Inequalities
Lesson 3b: Solving Inequalities
Lesson 4a: Solving Multi-Step Inequalities – Part 1
Lesson 4b: Solving Multi-Step Inequalities – Part 2
Each lesson is split: firstly, group discovery/investigation - secondly, space for lesson notes - finally, straight forward skill practice. Of course, you can have your students complete this in the order of your choosing.
I, personally, use them as a basis for accelerated groups and students who are able to move independently through a lesson and then adapt them for use with other student groups. Feel free to use and adapt for differentiation towards tiered groups.
