Product Description
Ten of my favorite algebra activities!

This activity pack contains the following activities for engaging your students with their math and each other:

-Fun at the Fair!
Explore the Coordinate Plane and the Slope Intercept Form while investigating the County Fair

-Trashing the Pollutomax
Use Data Plots such as Bar Graphs, Line Graphs, and Circle Graphs (Pie Charts) to anaylze pollution in the Pollutomax River

-Plight of the Adelie Penguins
Referencing actual research results from Palmer Station Antarctica, students will analyze an exponential equation that models the decline in numbers of an Adelie Penguin Group

-Artillery Battery
Students will explore projectile motion as modeled by a quadratic equation and see how factoring can be used to solve non-linear equations.

-The Indianapolis 500 and LCMs
Investigate the least common multiple by predicting when an Indy 500 race car should make fuel stops and tire changes. A great activity for getting ready to learn about Least Common Denominators

-Clean-up of the Pollutomax
We revisit the polluted river to see how rational algebraic expressions can be used to model the cost of removing pollution from our beloved waterways

-Crunch Time!
Grab a bag of M&M's and start creating ratios and proportions (munching on the activity materials may alter your answers!)

-Litter in the USA
Analyze roadway litter in the U.S. by using ratios and rates to explore how small acts matter big when multiplied over the entire population. This activity is a great introduction for larger class projects!

-Naval Tracking
Explore square roots in this application problem as a Sub tracks a destroyer. Students will use both the Pythagorean Theorem and the distance formula and learn how the two are related.

-Math in Motion: The Marathon
Students will use the results of the 2013 Boston Marathon (Top 3 male and female finishers) to complete unit conversions for metric measures, US standard measures, and units of time.

Projects contain all necessary activity sheets, answer keys, instructor procedure manuals and a few bonus features such as Power Points, video links, and Excel worksheets.

You are downloading a zip file containing the ten above referenced activites (32 files including Word, Excel, Power Point, PDF, and JPEG)
