This activity will get your students to use their knowledge of solving systems of linear equations (using substitution & elimination) in order to solve problems. Every correct answer helps them find their way through the labyrinth. In the end, students should complete every problem on the page without repetition.
This is one of my favorite activities to do as an alternative to book-work or a boring worksheet. I use these activities especially for really important concepts that students absolutely must know to be successful in the unit. This activity is one that the students actually enjoy. If I put the same questions on a worksheet, I might hear a lot of whining. Instead, they see this as a game, and they work hard to find their way through the labyrinth.
All you have to do is give a paper to each student. You may have them work cooperatively or assign this as homework. The next thing you know, you have a classroom full of students who completed their work and learned from their mistakes along the way. Sound too good to be true? Try it, and you will become a believer, too!
