Pleased to share my power point on Graphing Quadratic Functions with other teachers of mathematics who are looking for a clear presentation with a creative flare!
* The following lesson begins with the Standard Form of a Quadratic Function, explaining how it is written and the significance of a, b, and, c.
^ Students learn to identify the y-intercept of a Quadratic Function by observing the Quadratic Function equation in standard form.
* Students learn the physical form that a Quadratic Function consistently takes when graphed on the Cartesian Plane
* Students become familiar with the name used when referring to the high and low points on a graphed Quadratic Function
* Students learn about the Axis of Symmetry and how to find it using a simple formula
* Students learn how to use the same simple formula to find the x-coordinate for the vertex of a parabola
* They learn how to find the y-coordinate once they have identified the x-coordinate
* Finally, they learn to make a table to plot the additional other points needed to complete their parabola.
* This lesson is aligned with CC expectations.
* I have included a 10 question Follow up assessment so students and instructors may evaluate the students' understanding of the lesson.
* GUIDED NOTES are provided so students may actively participate in the power point lesson; additionally, notes are beneficial in preparing for tests/quizzes and final exams.
