It is my pleasure to submit this forty-one slide Power Point covering " Writing Linear Equations Given Two Points." The presentation begins with a brief review over Slope-intercept form, Point-slope form, and the formula used to calculate the slope of a straight line. There is discussion about what the two forms offer in terms of what is needed in order to graph the line. The student is presented with a graphed line that crosses the y-axis.in a clearly evident point and another point; they write an equation from that information. They then proceed to being presented with a graphed line and two points on the line, although the point where the line crosses they y-axis is not evident. Once the students have the equation written in point-slope form, they are instructed to change the equation from point-slope form to slope-intercept form. Moving forward, they are given two graphed lines and are challenged to determine which form they can most conveniently place the equation; following through, they write the equations to represent each of the two graphed lines. At the conclusion of the lesson, they are introduced to a real-life problem where a snow-boarder is coming down a mountain slope. They write the equation of the snow-boarder's descent. Fun!
