Product Description
The following Power Point introduces students to a totally new concept allowing them to use their understanding of fractions and prime factors in a totally new way..

* Students learn to identify the parts of a Radical Expression; Radicand and Radical

* Students learn what is required for an expression to qualify as a Radical Expression

* Students become familiar with the Product Property of Radical Expressions

* Students review the term "perfect square" and learn to use perfect squares in simplifying radical expressions

* Students employ Prime Factors as the easiest way to identify the perfect squares in a radical expression

* Students become familiar with the Quotient Property of Radical Expressions, and they use this property in simplifying the radical expressions.

* Students reason out why 'a' and 'b' are"greater than or equal to zero" in the Product Property of Radical Expressions, but in the Quotient Property of Radical Expressions, 'a' is greater than or equal to zero, but 'b' is merely greater than zero.

* Students learn to Rationalize the denominator in a Rational Expression.

* Students perform multiplication operations where they learn to cross cancel and divide to simplify while using Radicals.

* Students apply their newly learned information to a real-life situation where they calculate the distance to the horizon based upon the height of their location.

* This lesson is aligned with CC expectations.

* I have included a Follow-up assessment of 10 questions for student/teacher feedback as to their understanding and comprehension of the lesson.

* I have also included GUIDED NOTES so students may actively participate in the lesson presentation; the notes are a convenient way for students to review for test/quizzes and final exams.
