Students will love this activity to help them practice simplifying like terms and expressions. The goal is for students to take all 16 triangles and match them up to form a larger triangle. Students will love working in groups or racing to see who can finish first. Answer key is provided to make it easy for the teacher to see if they have all the triangles in the correct spots matching with the correct simplified term.
I suggest laminating the cut out triangle so that they will last from year to year. Another idea is to glue magnets onto the back of each triangle and then have students work on a cookie sheet (this makes it easier for all the pieces to stay where they want and not be messed up but someone briskly walking past their desk)
