This is a part of three lessons (sometimes more depending on the group) on simultaneous equations and comes as a bundle at a reduced price.
1. By Elimination Method (add and subtract)
2. By Substitution Method
3. By Graphical Method
This lesson starts off with a quick starter to assess and practice the pupil's abilities to use the elimination method (lesson 1) as this is important before moving on. This lesson builds on the new GCSE specification (C1 material) looking at substituting when equations involve powers. It comes also with a 'kit kat' challenge as a plenary.
It then goes through a couple of very clear examples or how to re-arrange (a key maths skill) and how to use the substation method to cancel out an unknown and then solve for an unknown, before again substituting back. The PPT also includes full lesson objectives, keywords, questions to attempt with answers and a plenary to summarise their first lesson. This lesson is a part of 3 or 4 lessons that I teach on the subject, and maybe with a revision or practice lesson.
