Through a Do Now students first review they can solve single step inequalities. This means that they have already been taught the rules for solving inequalities. But you can review them through the Do Now.
Students are reminded that when solving an equation you can always add, subtract, multiply and divide by any negative or positive number and equality doesn't change. But there are several slides to remind students of the three rules for solving an inequality.
Students are then shown several multi-step inequalities. In each situation, students are asked to think about at least one number that will make the inequality true. Then they are asked to solve each inequality. At that point they can confirm their original solutions.
Inequalities get progressively harder as the lesson progresses. At the end students must study other student's solutions to see where they made an error in the solution.
