Algebra Systems of Linear Equations Fun and Challenging Game with Christmas Winter Theme.
This fun activity is designed for any Algebra class. Middle School and High School Students, as sophisticated as they believe they are, still love playing dots and boxes. This is the game where they take turns drawing lines to close or capture a box. In this Algebra version, each box has a pair of linear equations in it. When they capture the box, they must find solve the pair. They add the x and y values and record that number on their recording sheet as their score for that box. When done, they add their points to see who wins. Lots of strategies built in, as some values are negative.
This fun activity can be done with two or three students, or even teams working on the problems.
I have included two versions, a holiday- winter themed version and a black and white version which you can use any time, depending upon your course.
Great practice and lots of fun! Answer key included.
